Doggles, and K plays!

K and I saw the only sun of the day just after sunrise this morning.
The sun was still soft enough that K had her eyes wide open, taking in the world.
As the sun brightened, I took everyone's advice and tried putting some "Doggles" over K's eyes. I've had this pair for about a decade since I bought them for Acadia, K's predecessor. Acadia didn't like them.

At first, it seemed as if K might not mind the Doggles.
But, as soon as I turned my head, K got to work on removing them. She had them off in about 10 seconds.
Every time that I put the Doggles back on, she'd take them off. I'll try again on a very bright day... because perhaps K will tolerate them on a day when the sun is really hurting her eyes.

Today was not a super bright day. Soon after the Doggles experiment, storm clouds cast an ominous shadow over the forest.
In the course of a couple of minutes, the world was transformed from a sunny spring-like day to a snowing wintery day. You can see the freshly fallen snow stuck to K's fur. I love the cute look that she gave me for this photo.
While she stood in that spot, I tried the Doggles on her for just a minute because I realized that the reflection in the glasses might look cool. You can see the forest that she was gazing at in the lens.
After that, we headed for home, and, along the way, we met a friend and her 1-year-old dog. Since K's radiation on her leg, she has mostly avoided playing with other dogs, perhaps because her leg feels fragile. Not today. Today, this sweet young dog played with K just perfectly - she wasn't too rough, and the two of them had a blast wrestling in a snowy meadow. When my friend and I saw how much fun they were having, we hung out and chatted, letting the dogs have a long play session.
Woo, I didn't know that K could look so ferocious!
It made me so happy to see K frolicking with her young and incredibly sweet dog friend. My friend and I smiled and smiled.

Every day is a gift, especially one that includes frolicking play with another dog!

I love the picture of K standing on that beautiful rock, snow on her ears and her leg displayed as a badge of courage. She's my hero!

Her friend is very cute, too!!

It looks like you and K had a great day! I'm so glad you found someone for K to play with. It looks like she's thrilled!

As far as the Doggles go, you might want to try it like a training session. Put them on her, then give her a lot of treats and praise, take them off and do it again during another commercial break. We learned to do it that way when we thought Blueberry had Pannus and might really need to wear them to protect her eyes from UV rays. It turned out she doesn't have it, fortunately, because of all the dogs we've had, she hated them the most! lol

Boy that was a shock to see the look on K's face. I know she is playing but it could take you by surprise.

I loved the reflection in the glasses too.

Don't you love those good days. With Bert down for the week, Jamie and I have spent a lot more time out..we don't do anything, but we just spend time away from the kennel.

good days......

We love Smile Days when every minute reveals a new joy...even a spunky dog that refuses shades and make scary faces!

We like the training treats conditioning idea and think it worth some tries...just to make K more comfortable in the sunshine.

Love the reflection in K's Doggles. Playing with friends is the BEST. And K looked like she had a blast. Good days indeed! Big smiles over here on the other side of the mountain.

It must be strange to see the world through Doogle tinted glasses! Would K get used to them by trying them at home for short amounts of time (with food treats and/or praise) before going outside?

My human and I are so glad she enjoyed playing with her friend in the snow.

Love and woofs,
Riley

And your post was a gift to the end of my day. Loved these photos! I think your idea is a good one, to try the doggles on a really bright day. K seems like a smart dog - she might "get it." (I LOVE the cute look in that one photo, adorable!)

It's so great to see her having so much fun. It looks like she and the other pup are a perfect match.

Mother Nature took one look at those goggles on K and clouded over for her! I think she's probably just too darn embarrassed to wear them. LOL! That was a great reflective pic of the forest in them though. It's so nice to see K having so much fun with her friend. She does look pretty ferocious in that last pic! BOL!

I do so agree, when like minded dogs unite in happiness, such enthusiasm is felt of their respective owners too.

K certainly is having lots of fun and you have captured beautifully those special moments.

The setting of snow and the backdrop is always stunning and such a joy for all of us to see.
Love from Kirra -x-

It was my thought too, that K was pretending this was a real Fox she was taking on! A lovely little pal to play with too.

I love reflective photos and this was most fun to see.

Cheers and hugs,

She looks quite stylish in her doggles! Try putting them on for a few minutes at a time and treating her. Cisco got to be a pro at wearing them!

I don't think any of mine would wear those doggles for long either, but it was worth the try - some great pics you got there, love the one with the reflection of your gorgeous world.

K - You Doggles are a hoot! Nice of your KB to think about you!

Have you been taking "cracker" lessons from R? Sure seems like it in these pictures! :)

Amazing how your friend "took it easy" today when you guys played! Did you have a little "conversation" before the play started?

Woofs!

I love all the reds in these photos - red dogs contrasting with white snow and K's red glow with the red in the rock. And that is a great wicked grin on K's friend in the last photo.

Hi Y'all,

It's strange how we grow closest to those we love and try to burn every second, each moment spent together, into our minds when we recognize that time is running out.

How wonderful for K to have a gentle playmate. We know R does his best, but gentle is not the adjective that springs to mind for him. The suggestions about training her to the doggles to get her used to the pressure around her head sounds like a good idea.

I, too, had fun watching K play in the snow with her friend. The Doggles, though, are too funny. Never heard of such a thing, and I don't know many dogs who would tolerate them, either. Funny to see her wriggling out of them!
