Beautiful shots, KB! I so want to spend a couple days with you and this beautiful place!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots. What an amazing sight to see- thanks for sharing with us! It makes me sad that its hunting season :( I hope the elk stay nicely hidden away from the hunters. Yuck.
ReplyDeleteIncredible and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Goose

ReplyDeleteBenny & Lily
I love, love, love all these elk pictures! I would love to hear them bugling but your pics will suit me. I think the second to the last pic is a very young elkette and the ones about mature girls! Just what they look like to me, am I right?
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Jo
Incredible photos!
ReplyDeleteHi Everyone!
ReplyDeleteThe non-antlered elk are females or calves who were born in early summer.
In these photos, the 6th photo is a mother (foreground) and her calf (background).
The 7th photo i also a calf!
Seeing the big fellows controlling their harems of 20 or so cows and calves is really fun!
Thanks for the comments and questions!
I can hear that last guy bugling.
ReplyDeleteHoly Guacamole KB!
ReplyDeleteNow, those are amazing creatures...
Hugs,
Lily Belle & Muffin
P.S. How large is your zoom lens?? Or were you really that close??
I was thinking the same thing...you must have one really GIANT zoom lens!! What cool pictures!! Thanks for sharing with us...
ReplyDeleteJeanne
You got some fantastic shots! I'm betting you have a really nice zoom lens. I love all the details!
ReplyDeleteWow, great pictures. We have some in Sweden too. Not where I live. They are great animals with big antlers.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! What wonderful captures!! They almost look like they are talking to you. Love the tongue pics! :)
ReplyDeleteWe are having a hard time looking at all of these awesome pictures and not thinking of elk antler chews! OMG - treats for 5 years at least!
ReplyDeleteLove ya lots,
Mitch and Molly
Stunning shots! Have a terrific Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Those photos are so amazing. It's hard to believe there is such a beautiful place left on this planet.
ReplyDeleteOh my god! You are so lucky to be able to just walk out and encounter the animal life that you do.
ReplyDeleteWonderful stuff!!!
Remember though that they are the most dangerous animals in the Rockies...
Marilyn
What proud and handsome animals! Thank you for the photos.
ReplyDeleteOh this brings back memories of when I worked a summer in Estes Park - the elk would be on the side of the road, bugling up a storm and all the crazy visitors would pull over willy nilly to take photos!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a much more serene picture of them - thank goodness you don't have a bunch of crazy tourists!
Great shots! Love the lighting too...
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos, I love this time of year in the Rockies. Mother Nature at her best :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful! Have you ever thought of selling your prints? Fine Art America lets you do it online - I've got a couple of my photos there.
ReplyDeleteSam
I'm right next to the Elk Preserve in Evergreen today but seeing mostly a baby here. Glad to get a glimpse of your herd.
ReplyDeleteI love your pictures! They are awesome!
ReplyDeleteSpectacular, fall and sunset color and all. I haven't been able to go elk listening yet this year, so I really appreciate these!
ReplyDeleteGreat photographs! What a sight that must have been to be there in person.
