Today was the kind of autumn day that I cling to. Warm air, bright sunshine, leaves starting to change to brilliant yellows and reds, and my loveable K by my side for a glorious mountain bike ride.
I know that we don't have many of these days left. I love the days of shorts, short sleeves, and no mittens. That makes me crave outdoor time - in any form. I'm writing this post from my deck, where the scene is no longer buzzing with hummingbirds as it has for the past 4 months. They've departed on their long aerial voyage southward to Central America.
I found some amazing mountain lion photos on a trail camera today. I'll just share one of them with more photos coming in the future when we aren't about to go over our satellite internet "usage quota" like we are right now.
The spot where my camera photographed this lion is smack in the middle of the trail network behind my house and is within 50 yards of a trail. And, at 4PM on a nice autumn Sunday like yesterday, people were certainly out and about. It's amazing how these majestic creatures live invisibly yet they are right in the midst of us. With very few exceptions, they also live peaceably, avoiding people and pursuing their natural prey. I feel privileged to get peeks at them like this one.
What a wonderful time of year. Makes you just happy to be alive.
ReplyDeleteAmazing photo of that mountain lion. I admire your confidence to be wandering the woods with those wild animals. Heck, all we have are coyotes and I'm scared to go in the woods.

Aweseome photo of K!!! We are enjoying the weather too - warm days and cool nights. And just a bit of rain:)
ReplyDeleteGreat capture of the lion.
Hi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteMy Human loves the shorts and t-shirt weather. Unfortunately I'd rather she put on more clothes 'cause then it's more comfy for me. :)
K is beautiful and I think I'm in love!
Fantastic shot of the mountain lion. Obviously he didn't care or didn't notice the camera.
Y'all come by now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
it is really scary you can't see them. But probably best. They are massive compared to the mountain lions here in So. Cal

OMG! That is the most amazing picture of the mountain lion. Such beautiful creatures and I agree, it is incredible that they live so close to humans yet go unnoticed most of the time.

ReplyDeleteThis is a fantastic time of year.
Such an amazing sight any time of day, but I'm sure you didn't expect one in the early afternoon. Perhaps the lion just wanted to enjoy these autumn days just like everyone else.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful K !
ReplyDeleteI also love the mountain lion.
Nice big kitty.
Do hummingbirds really fly to Central America? Across the ocean?

We've already had our first frost, and I'm back to winter layers in the mornings. But as my husband mentioned, only three more months until the days start getting longer!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous K and gorgeous lion. I bet the lion photos made your day!
