At the end of that day, a black bear sow took a wonderfully mellow swim in a pond. She swam with such a relaxed attitude that it reminded me of a human going for a swim in the evening of a hot day.
Enjoy the video - and imagine how cool that sow felt!
I just did the same thing in our backyard pool. I did my walking, then my youtub exercise and was so hot I thought I would melt. I did just what she did and enjoyed it every bit as much
ReplyDeleteYay for ponds on a hot day!
ReplyDeleteLove the bear breast stroke!
ReplyDeleteIt is hot here too. That sow has the right idea.
ReplyDeleteI found a little pond yesterday, and thought about your bears who like to swim.
ReplyDelete46 Celsius, that is very hot, no wonder she dipped in the pond. For extra large animals, they are so graceful in the water, and really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteTrail cams are notorious for incorrect temperatures. Ours said 100F a week ago and it was in the 70s.
DeleteFeels like 95 here in NC. A dip would feel lovely but not with Mama Bear
ReplyDeleteHugs madi and mom
The way she ambles along through the water shows how much she is enjoying her refreshing swim. Still miserably hot and humid here:(
ReplyDeleteShe looks so relaxed and like she really is enjoying her dip.
ReplyDeleteIt's always so fun coming to your blog and getting to spy on the wild animals :) I'm surprised she only swam in such a small area instead of all over the place.
ReplyDeletePS - as a "Behr" myself, I totally understand the love of swimming! My place is the beach, though.
That cooled me off just watching. Glad you had mentioned earlier that the thermometers on your cameras are notoriously inaccurate: 116 degrees F is entirely Too Hot. It was 101 F here that day, which is plenty hot enough. Fortunately we're cooled off some - hope you have too.
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Chris from Boise
Fresh dipped bear is lots of fun to see!
ReplyDeleteShe looked like she was enjoying her cooling dip in the pond.
ReplyDeletewhat a great video! Love seeing her all relaxed and enjoying her swim.
ReplyDeleteI needed this. thanks so much for all your videos.
ReplyDeleteOh she enjoyed her swim so much!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd we enjoyed watching her!

That sow certainly had the right idea! I enjoy summer, but this one has been a bit much. I've had some of those days where I felt like I just couldn't take any more! I think I even would have jumped in a green pond with a bear. LOL
