Sunday Snow Joy

We are in the midst of a May winter storm cycle. We had cement-like snow fall to the tune of about 10". It was 15°F this morning. A hummingbird in torpor appears to be frozen to the side of the house next to our hummingbird feeder. We're watching to see if he survives when he thaws. It's supposed to snow more this week amidst below freezing temperatures.

Our pups love it much more than the hummingbirds do!

I am getting stronger all the time. However, the very act of pushing the limits in terms of my shoulder and wrists exhausts the muscles. I am so happy to be in the phase of getting stronger even with the muscle fatigue exercise can cause. I have at least an hour and a half of rehab exercises to do daily.

This winter was so hard in so many ways that it's left me in an introspective mood. I meditate daily as a way of grounding my spirit. I'm feeling more calm with each passing day. That is good.

  2. Do let us know whether the hummer revives. That's a lot to ask of a miniscule body!

Yay snow, as you need all the moisture you can get - as long as you don't go out and shovel 10" of frozen wet concrete. I'm sure you channel Black Dog elbow rehab as you do your shoulder/wrist rehab. And so glad you're beginning to feel more balance in your life after that very tough year/winter. Spring - even in your high-elevation valley - is here.

  3. We have our paws crossed that your little hummingbird survives this cold snap. The pups sure look like they are enjoying all that snow. Our paws are crossed for you too in hopes that you continue to heal from your surgery.

Meanwhile, best of luck to the poor wee hummingbirdie!

    1. PS was so happy about your healing I forgot to mention the poor hummer. We've had several days of mid 90's I'm keeping my feeder fresh for my hummers to stay hydrated.

  7. Your rehab, remember your Black Dog, and how he progressed, with all the assistance and love and care you gave, so you, too, will progress, even if it is hard, painful, and slow.In my eyes, even to type your posts is a miracle. Springtime will bring warmth and a new look to all your stunning landscapes.

  8. So glad you are slowly hearing! After the storm yesterday, I think I may prefer snow! Lee and Phod (hour 41 with no power)

  9. For all who asked, I am sad to say that the hummingbird did not survive.

  10. All your hard rehab work will be rewarded this summer. While it's no secret Denver can receive snow in early May, I don't remember it ever falling on the 20th! Stay warm and safe and give those two precious fur babies ear rubs from us.
