The local mountain lion family visits Lab Valley

One morning near the middle of last September, Shyla and I started our morning walk together. Because Shyla couldn't walk very well, I had her on a leash even though our walk was in the meadow by our house. In the first minute, I looked toward the creek, and I saw a mountain lion watching us from the willows. My first reaction was that I had to get Shyla back in the house ASAP because she was so vulnerable. Fortunately, the mountain lion was sitting near a dead elk, and had zero interest in chasing us down. We made it back to the safety of the house.

We'd seen four sets of eyes in that spot the previous night so I was certain that it was our local mountain lion family. This first video includes just one kitten. Later ones will show more than one lion.
