But, I saw one great sign today - bear tracks! This is around the time of year that a few eager bears emerge from their dens every year but the trail cams that usually capture their footage are virtually impossible to access now due to deep and sloppy snow. Thus, I have to rely on tracks on a dirt road to know that some bears are waking up.
The handwarmer (yes, still needed!) is for scale. It's 3.25" on its long side. Bears often overlay one track on another, and I believe that I see signs of that here.
One source of smiles over the past couple of weeks has been my amazing amaryllis plants. They have bloomed endlessly!
Every time I arrived home, it seemed as if yet another flower had opened.
I decided to try to make a time lapse movie of an amaryllis flower opening. It turned out to be much harder than I expected. I tried on four different flowers, and even my last try involved mistakes.
Despite that, I decided to share the video here. It's quite short (3 days compressed into 30 sec), and I hope that it makes you smile.
Many thanks to Brian for hosting the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.
we have cookies called bear paws, but they are much much smaller than the real ones... we should write a complaint ;O)
ReplyDeleteThat was an amazing video and I'm glad to hear the bears are waking up. Thanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!
ReplyDeleteThat video was great! We can't wait to see what your bear cameras have caught of the early risers when you can get to them.
ReplyDeleteYour time lapse was wonderful and yes, we did smile - a lot☺ The bear paw is HUGE!
ReplyDeleteThe flower is gorgeous. Love the bear tracks too, a happy but scary sight for us.

Great job on the time-lapse! I love amaryllis but have to love them from afar as they are poisonous to cats. The bear track is amazing and a little scary for this suburban gal!
ReplyDeleteOh THE RED AMARYLLIS...HAS ME SMILING AS DID THE VIDEO.
ReplyDeleteBEAR TRACKS...I COULD DO WITHOUT ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY.

It is amazing to see signs of spring on the mountains.
ReplyDeleteKB!!! You did an amazing job on the Amaryllis opening!! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a clear paw print you found of the bear...
Our black bears do not go into dens and sleep. They are active all year. I hate to say this but now the "killers" are out to trophy hunt the bears.. (sad)
