The Return of Mountain Lions

After getting a great start in tracking mountain lions and videoing them near our new place, they disappeared late last winter. I stayed the course, keeping my trail cams in the same spots where I'd gotten video of them previously. Finally, last month, my cams picked up footage of two or three lions.

This video is from one spot where they returned. You have no idea how glad I was to see the long graceful form of a lion!

During the lions' hiatus, a human spotted my cam and messed with it. That's why it's set up oddly - to keep it out of sight. I may try moving it back into the open this winter.

I have often wondered about the security of your camera traps (and others who use them)... glad this one survived and brought us this! YAM xx

  2. hw sad that your cams disappeared... it is something great to watch this lions doing their stuff..

  3. We're glad to see the big cats are back. There sure is a nice verity of animals using that trail.

  4. Wonderful nighttime footage of the mountain lion. Am I seeing the eyes of another creature (another lion?) in a backround after around 1 minute 36 seconds?
Thanks for once again sharing all your fascinating wildlife.
    Cheers, Gail.

  5. What a shame that people can't mind their own business and leave what isn't theirs alone. We love the graceful and sleek mountain lions.

  6. Ditto to what Molly said!! Dang it!!
I did so enjoy all the creatures great and small (the squirrel was too funny at the 55 sec mark)
fingers crossed you can get you camera back where you want it
    Hugs Cecilia

  7. Loved seeing all the animals including the lion. I thought maybe your new trails were more secluded and therefore safer from humans messing with the cameras. Do you know neighbors who use those trails?

  8. Moose and deer and elk, oh my. A squirrel for fun and the beautiful cats. I'm sure the squirrel tries to stay out of their way.

Darn humans! You'd think they'd know better.

  9. While I'm thrilled the cats are back, it's really saddening someone messed with your camera. What's wrong with people anymore?

  10. Another beautiful video...loved the night shots also!
    People are so thoughtless sometimes.

  11. People can be such idiots sometimes, you need a fake cam with stink inside, let them take that one. Cool video though!

  12. Leave it to the humans to mess things up. Glad the big kitties are back and on film.
