Spectacular campsite

The next leg of our trip was a trifle scary for me, a point-to-point long ride to meet the pack at a remote campsite. Last year, a plan like this one went dreadfully awry. Tomorrow, I'll tell you about my adventure as I pedaled through the wilderness. For today, here are a few snippets.

Near the middle of my journey, more than 10 miles from anything resembling a road, I passed through a series of creeks and waterfalls. Wildflowers, including Columbines, abounded. I dropped my bike and soaked up the beauty.
Butterflies did the dance of life in this nectar-laden paradise.
After a long and hard ride, I met the pack at our truly spectacular campsite with a view of the mountains that awed us all. The Duo sat in the sunset light with part of the panorama behind them.
While lounging in our campsite that night, we watched fiery meteors burn up in the Earth's atmosphere leaving white hot tails in the sky. What a show!

  2. I have been catching up with your posts and OMG!! I can't believe that you rode your bike up Cinnamon Pass!!

Due to my troubles with higher altitudes I didn't get to go on our second day of 4-wheeling so Lucie and I went hiking around our house. My husband took a ton of pix though. You are amazing! It was scary enough riding in a vehicle up those trails, I can't even imagine doing it on a bike. I would fall over and roll down the mountain!

LOVE that last pic of the pups! OH and I loved seeing the bear from your cam. Can't believe that he played with them.

Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

    Lots of Luv & Kisses

  6. The flowers and butterflies are gorgeous. We have missed meteors because of cloudy weather.

We ARE having an invasion of Monarchs though!

    Cheers,

  8. Have just been and got the morning paper. Thought you might like to know that today our French take on life in America is the shooting of a dog by an off duty policeman in Baltimore.According to the story, as told here, the policemans dog was accosted by another dog in the park. When it didn't go away he shot it. Maybe we'll get Dr.Laura next week!

  9. I think that last picture is one of my all time favorites of the duo. The lighting is amazing and I love both of their relaxed expressions. . .Can't wait for the rest of the story to come!!

PS-Thanks for the recall games! I can't wait for foxtail season to be over so I can put Kona back on her long leash/hide off trail and we can play more games! Please fan winter west when it arrives in your forest!

  11. I'm glad I'm reading backwards in catching up so I can have something happy to think about after the devastating blow of the theft of your cameras. Watching the meteors would have made me smile. But now I'm back to reality, and I'm just crushed that this happened to you.
