Black Dog Sunday

I've had a few chances to photograph our black dog recently at sunset. During one walk, I photographed the Duo just before the sunset.

Shyla asked me to include the next one because, for once, she appears to be taller than R!

Just after the sun disappears, the light is perfect for photographing a black dog. That's when I took the next one. The setting sun is still glimmering in the trees behind R.
R is such a high intensity character. In this photo, he is staring at the meadow, trying to see if any rogue rabbits or other animals have dared come out. His intensity is his hallmark - one person called him a "10,000 Volt Dog". That is, until he can snuggle with Shyla or a human - then he's the most mellow dog you could ever meet!

  1. Well, you know me. I have a special place in my heart for dogs who can go from 10,000 volts to snuggle bunny. The cracker is the same way. Play HARD and FAST. Snuggle like an innocent bunny. R rocks!

  2. We think it's funny that Shyla "asked" you to include that one picture. Sibling rivalry is alive and well and everyone is looking great.

  3. Dang pretty Shyla, you're mighty tall. That last photo of R is most wonderful!!!

  4. Yeah for Shyla she is front and center, being taller than R must mean more treats.
We love that Black dog too. His fur in the bokeh effect looks shinier than a new penny.
Hope all is well in your world.

  8. Prince Arrrr has long been one of my favorite pups and always will be. I do love a mixed breed: Goofy and Serious.

My main pup at the moment us Stella, almost 10 or more (shelter didn't know her exact age)
and a very serious girl. Sweet, she loves to cuddle, but there is no goofy to her.

Why not send Prince Arrr on the bus to Minnesnowda so he could teach Stella its OK to be a little goofy now and then?

    Yours truly,

Jo, Zkhat and Stella (who is not sure this is a good idea!)

  10. I used to know a dog with that kind of intensity. His name was "Obie," but his nickname was "Oh Be Ten Dogs!" The first time I heard it I laughed and laughed :)

  14. Nice pictures, especially of R. When we had Molly with us, I found it difficult to get a good photo of a black dog.
