Three Compelling Reasons to Visit the Desert in October

The brilliant colors with rock sculptures in the background...

The soft low angle sunlight making Shyla's fur glow...

And the Milky Way...
Now we are bracing ourselves for temperatures in the 20's and snow tomorrow! It's a shocking transition but I love both places - the desert and the mountains.

    October has always been my favorite desert time. When my kids were growing up, they had 5 or 6 days off school every year in the middle of October. We always headed to the desert to camp.

    OMD, those stars! I've lived my entire life on the east coast and even when I'm at anchor in the remotest areas of Georgia or North Carolina we never have that dark a sky. Just stunning!

    We've had that weather for a few days now and were out in it all weekend. It takes time to adjust to the cold, but we are liking it.

    There is nothing like the sky out west! I absolutely love it out there! I SO enjoy all of your photos as my husband doesn’t much like it out west. Stunning photos!
