What a pup!

It has been an amazing week for Shyla, with four socialization trips to town, all of which went stunningly well. I am thrilled. I am prepared for the step backward that my trainer reminds me is almost always a regular part of the journey. But, for now, I'm simply happy to see all of our hard work paying off. It's wonderful to see Shyla navigate the world with happy-go-lucky demeanor, expecting that people will be nice and that there's fun around each corner.

Today, on Hug Hill in the morning, I worked on "impulse control" with Shyla. She lay with a milkbone and a couple of other treats just inches from her nose, awaiting my release to eat them. She looked cute!
Surprisingly, in the training class that we attended later in the day, impulse control was one of the main things that the group worked on. Shyla was ready!

What a pup!

  7. Thats a great picture where Shyla is partly hidden by snow and sort of giving you the stink eye about the treats. Everything is just working out so well with you two and I love it.

    Cheers,
