I am planning to enter a contest for photos taken by remote wildlife cameras. I can enter more than one photo so I plan to enter one bear photo, one lion photo, and one bobcat photo. For today, I wanted to ask your help in picking the "best" of the photos taken outside the bear den that I found last winter. The bear den contained a mother and two yearling cubs. On a spring afternoon, the trio played rambunctiously for hours.
I'd be very grateful if you could choose a #1 and #2 favorites! Thank you!

I think that the funniest photo might be the one taken by the trail camera of me in my big rigid neck brace peeking in the den (I'd just had neck fusion surgery). I took the surgeon's orders very seriously. Believe it or not, he never mentioned that I couldn't peek at a trio of bears in a den while standing in a foot of snow.
I have a trail camera pointed at the den but haven't visited it since June to avoid spooking any bears with human scent. I plan to check it in the depths of winter when any potential hibernating bears are sound asleep.
I has to pick favorites! They're all my favorite. MOL.

ReplyDeleteI like the first two. I will try to explain why.
I like "Cubs at Play" because I have never seen the bottom of a bears foot before.
I like "Yes Mom" because the differences in their heads is very cool.
My third pick would be "Up the Tree." The other photos are great but I feel it is better to go with more original compositions.

Wow - awesome pics and a tough choice. I think I like 1)"kiss it and make it better" and 2)"yes, mom" the best. How close did you place the camera or did she happen to make her den near your already set camera? I love the wildlife camera idea - I've thought of doing the same near my home, but there may be too much human traffic to leave it unspoiled. Good luck with your contest!!!

ReplyDeleteWe like the "kiss it and make it better" picture the best because it shows the universal mother-child bond transcends species. We like the "yes, mother" second best for the same reason. You're getting so many different choices from your voters that this may not help your decision-making much. They're all great pictures.

Oh, I luvs them all. But my favoritest one is the first one. I luvs the bear foot sticking up in the air. It looks like his brudder or sister just pushed him down. And then my second favorite is the kiss it and make it better one.

Wow, these are great. Wish we had been able to get bear pics like this out in Montana. We only got a bear's BUTT!
