Black and White Sunday: A Cranky Skunk

Fortunately, the other morning, both dogs avoided a big stink. Shyla was not chasing a skunk in this photo.
But, a couple of hours earlier, a spotted skunk had taken a disliking to my trail camera. He bounded toward it.
Did a handstand (I never knew that they actually did handstands before spraying until I saw this photo)...
And hit the camera with his tail as he pointed his lethal end toward the red glowing enemy.
Some people say that our high altitude spotted skunks make a stinkier spray than striped skunks. He may not have sprayed - I didn't smell it on the camera.

But, because our pups avoided this skunk, they are both resting easy... bath-free and happy.
Thank you, Labraduo, for avoiding that cranky skunk!
Due to the central role of the black and white skunk in this story, I am joining the Black and White Sunday Blog Hop!

  2. Never saw a spotted skunk before!!! My biggest fear - one of the sibes getting sprayed. With those thick double coats - what a job that would be!!! So glad the LabraDuo avoided a big mishap!

  5. I had no idea there were spotted skunks!!! I can't imagine a stinkier one than the ones we have here! Talk about a gagfest driving home with two skunked dogs in the car and my head out the window!

  8. Spotted skunk? Never seen one before. Yes, stay away, spotted or striped! Mr Bill got sprayed in the mouth a few years ago. No doubt sniffing the "cat". Oops, not a cat!

  9. Thankfully, we've never had an encounter with a skunk. I found the views your camera had of the skunk about to spray fascinating. It was really 'up close and personal', so to speak. Thankfully no one got sprayed (including the camera)!!
