Thankful Thursday - Our Mountain World

Our world is vacillating between autumn and winter. Thank goodness that the recent snow didn't bring down all the leaves.

I cannot believe that we sat outside at 11,500' elevation soaking up the sun in front of this incredible view less than a month ago. I can only imagine that our viewpoint is snow-covered now. The alpine summer is so short.

During that trip, we were on the road and camping for long enough that it seemed perfectly normal that I'd ride my bike for 30 minutes to find cell phone reception using trails that looked this spectacular.

Then, I'd sit in a spot like this one to upload my homework for an online course that I was taking. For some reason, there were very small zones anywhere near where we camped that had cell phone reception.

From a different "phone booth", I had this view. It was a very enjoyable spot to sit while data uploaded or while I read the new lectures for my course.

After all that riding both to find phone booths and for fun, I'd return to camp in time to take the Labraduo swimming in the afternoon, and then enjoy the sunset. We saw some superb ones during our trip!

Not only did the sunsets make the mountains glow but they made Shyla glow too! That's one of my favorite parts of camping on west-facing vistas.
I'm so thankful that places like our vacation camping spots exist. All year long, my mind flashes to them and I smile. I find myself hoping that my wish will come true that we'll get to visit again the following year. Life is good.

  7. LOL - those phone booths are way more attractive than what we were accustomed to when one could actually find a phone booth on the streets:) Amazing photos as always. We should all be able to have such a spectacular location in which to do homework:)

  8. Study, stunning scenery, golden leaves, a little snow, and peace and quietness, to be able to drive there, stay a while, bike to the phone reception spots, a little bit of heaven right here.

  13. Absolutely stunning photos. Not having reception would drive us crazy, though. At camp last weekend there was no internet for almost 3 days which was a nice forced break, but Mom would really have a hard time if there was no internet most of the time. Not only our blogging stuff, but her entire business is based on being online. Disconnecting is good for a person now and then, though.
