I had no idea! So glad that you are OK. Stay safe. Give R & K a special pat from Barb - and a hug for you.
ReplyDeleteHow horrible. Glad you are safe at home. I am a little confused: was it just a drill - or was there really a new fire close to you? If it was a drill, I think it was almost torture so shortly af the big fire. Love and hugs EM
ReplyDeletemissed the first post...shit, what a rush....glad all is safe...thinking of you...

Glad everything is ok .. hope a good hike or bike ride will settle you all down.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you are back home (since I just read the evacuation post). I am so glad that our fire season has been so quiet so far.

ReplyDeleteBig sigh of relief at seeing this. Glad to hear things are better. Now breathe and relax.

EM: It was a real fire, a very scary fire that broke out fairly close to us and rapidly became a tree crown fire. That means that it was burning up in the forest treetops, and had the potential to spread long distances very fast. Fortunately, we had the best fire crews in the nation still nearby due to the previous fires so they responded extremely rapidly. Without them and their aircraft, our house might very well be gone.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I envy you for living in such a rugged, pristine corner of paradise. Then at other times, like today, the carefully tended order and routine of France seems very attractive. Hope that you've had all the excitement for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour note to EM brings the terror of this event alive - so very scary and I'm so glad the close-by firemen were on it so quickly and efficiently. And soooo glad your house is safe and mostly, that you guys and the puppers are okay.
ReplyDeleteHuge Hugs xoxoxo

When I heard about that new fire's location, I was like ... Oh, crap! I'm glad they got it knocked down so fast. I'm glad all of you are safe.
