K's mending

I thought that our internet problems might be solved by now... but they're not. Our current company gets two more strikes, and then they're "out". However, the alternative, satellite internet, is not attractive. They get horrible reviews everywhere I look. So, I'll keep trying with our current company a little longer.

I've been worrying about my K, as her recovery from her kidney infection seems slow. She's been on strong antibiotics for about 2.5 weeks but still lacks her normal sparkle. I talked with her vet yesterday who explained that it often takes 8-12 weeks before a dog (or human) fully recovers so she's not too concerned with K's seemingly slow progress. However, we're doing an ultrasound next week to make sure that K's kidney appears to be on the mend. We can tweak her meds if needed.

Given my worries, I love when I capture instants when she romps like this one!
I hope that you're all doing well!
PS The flower from my last post was a Spotted Saxifrage, and Sue T had the right species name in her comment!

  1. Is K taking any probiotics or eating yogurt? Maybe her tummy isn't happy. She looks great though. Thanks for the pupdate!!

  2. Good advice about the yogurt. Sending White Dog healing energy that K gets back to normal quickly... we wish the same for your internet connection.

Thanks for the info about the fearful/thyroid link. We did not know and Quinn has a pretty slow metabolism so maybe? I am sure Dr. Julia has never done such a test, I am going to call her about it next week. Thanks for the heads up!

  3. I love K's rompin' stompin' picture too! We send very best get well wishes to her for a quick heal-up in the kidney matter.

Good luck on finding a good ISP! If the one you have is not good and the secondary one knows it, little do they wish to make things better, right?

    Cheers and hugs,

  6. That flower is just so beautiful. And you captured its beauty so well.

We continue to think good thoughts for K. It is so tough to be patient when you are used to being able to romp and roll with her. Hang in there, and we will all hope good things for next week's visit and ultrasound.

Good luck with the internet issue - hope you can find a good solution

  7. OK so, My Vickie looked up Spotted Saxifrage on the internet and did you know that in all the pictures they have of the Spotted Saxifrage, none compare to the excellent shot you have. I mean seriously that is a beautiful shot.

And it was wonderful seeing K running like that and even though K's eyes look a little tired, on the whole .....Lookin Much Better......

    Love

  9. K is really looking beautiful and we hope she gets well. We know the problems with internet providers...we only have a few here and they both get bad reviews with good reasons. Lots of love, Debbie & Holly

  14. My vet has said that antibiotics [especially, I'd think, big doses over time] can make a dog feel puny. Looking into probiotics might be a good idea...

Sending K all the best SoCal mojo!

  16. I love both those photos of K! I'm glad to hear that she's on the mend, even if she is going slowly. I know I generally don't feel that great when I'm on antibiotics, but sometimes you just have to get through them to get to the part where you feel better.

  17. K does look BEAUTIFUL!

We agree with the comments about yogurt, or maybe even something like Fortiflora. Antibiotics really are hard on the system.

  18. I agree that, sometimes, the antibiotics themselves can put an animal off of its game. That said, I did love the picture of K running and looking like her old self. I will continue to keep her in my thoughts.

Internet problems can be a real pain. Hope yours get solved soon.

  19. K is such a beauty. Her brown fur looks lovely flanked by the yellow flowers in the photo above. I hope you get a good report from the ultrasound next week. Keep us posted when you can. By the way, thanks for sharing the name of that flower. I'm off to Google it. :)
