The heart of a dog

I wonder what K was dreaming of yesterday evening as she cast her eyes toward the heavens.
 Perhaps she was remembering those days of bliss in the La Sal mountains.
Despite it being only mid-May when we were there, I climbed high in the mountains, crossing a pass as high as 11,600'. Usually, this pass doesn't melt out until July. The drought is intense. If K does rebound, perhaps we'll take advantage of it for one last short foray up into the high mountains.
Perhaps, as her eyes searched the sky, K was imagining floating like an angel through the meadow, just as she did a short time ago.
Whatever she dreamed of, she seemed to smile. Ah, the heart of a dog...

    Ann..from THE OUTER BANKS OF NC.. said....Love always speaks through K no matter what she is doing...I just think she wanted to nurture her mind,body,soul, and spirit..with the beautiful moments you have given her..follow your heart.. it knows the way....wherever a beautiful soul has been.. there is a trail of beautiful memories

    I am one who loves to think about what a dog might know, might remember. Stella gets a far-away look in her eyes and I ask her what she is seeing, thinking. She never tells, though! Like our faith, our dogs will always be a mystery to us!

    I glad to see you all are back and had a good trip. K is beautiful in all ways as usual. I'm sorry to hear she's had some trouble with her leg and maybe lungs. She is in my thoughts often. What a happy strong girl.
