A Bear Path in Autumn

By now, the vast majority of bears are snug in their dens. But there is always a couple of weeks when bears move with purpose along every animal trail. I always think that they are moving from the lower elevation areas where they gorged on their last berries to the higher elevation areas where they will den.

Near our new place, that happened in late September. It was so much fun to see the bears who I'm getting to know all pass my cams.

If you have time, check out the bears in this short video. Then, visualize them slumbering in a dark cave on a hillside. That's what they'll be doing until April or May!

PS Thank you for your kind comments yesterday. Every word makes a difference.

  3. What a great video. We love seeing the mamma and her two cubs. Will all three sleep together during hibernation?

    1. They will! I got trail cam footage of a mama bear and two yearling cubs together in a den for the winter about 12 years ago! Imagine being a mom in a very confined space with 2 teenagers for the winter months. Not an easy task as a mom!

  7. They are all very determined to get to wherever the place is, some hugging the tree as a farewell before they hunker down, others scamper along. They are all walking the walk of life, as is your Dad and you. Let all our love and care surround you both, from a distance and close by.XXXXX
