I am sorry to have been missing for a while. My father died on the 26th of December. The week leading up to it was heartbreaking and emotionally draining. Now, it is time to grieve and heal.
Tomorrow, I have surgery on my left wrist. It has been a long time coming (and was scheduled a long time ago without any idea that it would be so soon after my Dad's death). I have suffered with carpal tunnel syndrome for many years. It's time to get it fixed so that the damage to my hands does not become permanent. One month after the left wrist surgery, my right wrist will have the same surgery. And then there's the issue my shoulder injury - that may be fixed at the same time as my right wrist.
I am feeling pretty down. I am so deeply sad. And, I have the orthopedic challenges just ahead of me. I will resume blogging when my body and soul allow it. I hope that it will be soon.
So sorry for the loss. Take time to heal...from your loss, and the surgeries.

ReplyDeleteTake all the time necessary KB... your father now keeps company with Desmond Tutu and that might be a cause for a little light in that darkness. Sending healing vibes. YAM xx
And also E.O. Wilson, one of my professors in graduate school. Dec 26 was quite a day for passings.
DeleteMy love and thoughts, having been there in 1987.The loss of the second parent is overwhelming, take all the time you need to grieve and heal, let the surgery recovery be a time for rest, memories and the love you shared and the same love we all send to you right now.Your wrist needs at least 6 weeks, your heart needs a lifetime.Much love and caring thoughts will fly to you tomorrow.XXXXXXX
ReplyDeleteWe're so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. Our paws are crossed that all goes well for your upcoming surgeries. We send hugs and will keep you in our thoughts while you journey through this difficult time.
ReplyDeleteMy sincere sympathies on your father's passing. We never grow so old as not to want our parents to be here with us. May your memories give you some solace.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes on the surgeries. I recall many years ago, my mom had similar surgeries as well. The worst of it, for her, was getting Dad's help in pulling up her nylons so she could go to church. I hope your recovery goes well.
In the meantime, we'll be here when you are able to get back to posting and I will keep you in my thoughts.
We're all so very sorry to hear about your Dad. We know how difficult that is and we send love and hugs your way. Take care and you'll do fine with your surgery.
ReplyDeleteKB - Hang in there! You’re dealing with a lot all at once not to mention your pack dynamics. Please take the time you need and know that you and your pack are loved and supported!
ReplyDeleteMy deepest empathy for your loss, especially during such a difficult time of year and difficult phase in your health. I had carpal tunnel surgery in 2016. After the initial short recovery, it felt as though a cloud had lifted. Months of chronic pain faded. And that issue has not returned, for which I am endlessly grateful. Wishing you the best and a full recovery. Your heart ... I can only guess ... will take much longer.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry to hear about your father. It is the loss of an essential part of yourself.
ReplyDeleteI am sure the surgery will go well. I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist several years ago. It went really well and healed very fast. One of the best things I ever did.
I am so sorry for the loss of your father. Even when you know it's coming, it's still really, really hard. And to happen right after Christmas... oh dear. :( :(

ReplyDeleteWe are west of those fires. Since the wind is roaring out the west, we are in no danger from them. Thanks so much for checking on us. It is a tragedy for all those people in its path - we know some of them.
