An Update

I am sorry to have been missing for a while. My father died on the 26th of December. The week leading up to it was heartbreaking and emotionally draining. Now, it is time to grieve and heal.

Tomorrow, I have surgery on my left wrist. It has been a long time coming (and was scheduled a long time ago without any idea that it would be so soon after my Dad's death). I have suffered with carpal tunnel syndrome for many years. It's time to get it fixed so that the damage to my hands does not become permanent. One month after the left wrist surgery, my right wrist will have the same surgery. And then there's the issue my shoulder injury - that may be fixed at the same time as my right wrist.

I am feeling pretty down. I am so deeply sad. And, I have the orthopedic challenges just ahead of me. I will resume blogging when my body and soul allow it. I hope that it will be soon.

Take all the time necessary KB... your father now keeps company with Desmond Tutu and that might be a cause for a little light in that darkness. Sending healing vibes. YAM xx

  6. My sincere sympathies on your father's passing. We never grow so old as not to want our parents to be here with us. May your memories give you some solace.

Best wishes on the surgeries. I recall many years ago, my mom had similar surgeries as well. The worst of it, for her, was getting Dad's help in pulling up her nylons so she could go to church. I hope your recovery goes well.

In the meantime, we'll be here when you are able to get back to posting and I will keep you in my thoughts.

  9. My deepest empathy for your loss, especially during such a difficult time of year and difficult phase in your health. I had carpal tunnel surgery in 2016. After the initial short recovery, it felt as though a cloud had lifted. Months of chronic pain faded. And that issue has not returned, for which I am endlessly grateful. Wishing you the best and a full recovery. Your heart ... I can only guess ... will take much longer.

  10. I am so sorry to hear about your father. It is the loss of an essential part of yourself.

I am sure the surgery will go well. I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right wrist several years ago. It went really well and healed very fast. One of the best things I ever did.

  22. We are so sorry about your dad. Losing a parent is so very hard and you will always miss him, but he will be there by your side in spirit. Good luck with the surgeries. At least you have help at home with the pups, that will be good during your recovery. Blogging is great because you can do it whenever you feel like doing it and your people are always there for you. Hugs.

    1. We are west of those fires. Since the wind is roaring out the west, we are in no danger from them. Thanks so much for checking on us. It is a tragedy for all those people in its path - we know some of them.
