Black Dog Strength

This is one of my favorites of the Labraduo. Our Black Dog was such a strong big brother for Shyla. She seemed to gain strength from simply lying next to him. She always wanted to be touching him.

When he left us for the Rainbow Bridge, Shyla was ready to stand on her own, perhaps because R had spent so many years helping her learn to be confident. There's no better testament to the role that he played in timid Shyla's life.

I've been needing extra strength lately. Remembering our Black Dog's strong love helps me. He never let circumstances knock back his optimism and happiness.

  1. I think this is at the very top of my favorite duo photos. the crossed paws grabbed my heart and squeezed it as did those two beautiful faces side by side

  4. R will be with you in spirit, in his usual way, as you need that extra strength right now. He was the best for Shyla, and he gave her that much needed support and love that enables her to be as she is today, and for you, love and support from all of us out here, and as others say in New Zealand , " Kia Kaha" ...Stay Strong. 5. That is such a lovely photo of the two dogs' overlapping paws. I hope it continues to give you strength.
Bertie is not the most overtly demonstrative dog, but he loves to be lying somewhere where he can be just touching me, and I know this unobtrusive gesture is something I'll miss one day.
    Cheers, Gail.

  10. She has her paw over his and they are paying attention, ears up, eyes fixed, maybe on you and your camera. Still, it's such a lovely and relaxed photo, no wonder it's a favorite of yours.

  11. Such a sweet picture of Shyla and R. Hopefully Shyla can now do the same for Hachi as R did for her.
