Nature Friday

During a very long mountain bike ride this summer, I spotted this beautiful Columbine standing guard next to the trail.
It never ceases to amaze me that such delicate looking flowers can survive the high winds, hail, and torrential downpours at the highest reaches of the Rockies. I think that their toughness combined with their beauty is what makes me love them so much.

Thanks to the LLB gang for hosting Nature Friday.

  6. Yours are truly exquisite. I wish I had better luck with growing them down here. Alas I'm stingy with water and they let me know in no uncertain crispy terms!

  7. We are also amazed with some of the flowers around our office that can survive such heavy rain and high winds. It looks like a wonderful place for a long bike ride. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful upcoming weekend.

  15. Resilience of some plants really is amazing. We've had to cut back a few bushes around the property, and every time we do, they come back bigger and better than ever!
