Thankful Thursday

My gratitude for the warmth and green of springtime is endless. It was a long winter, and that makes springtime all the sweeter.

We've had a plethora of migratory birds this spring. One of my favorites is the Yellow Rumped Warbler. He has yellow splashes on his head, chin, and rump! He catches my eye almost daily. There is nothing drab about this guy.

Of course, I never take our mountain bluebirds for granted. They have set up their nests and appear to be tending to them now. I love these birds!

Another green gift is the veggies growing in my new greenhouse. We are eating only home grown lettuce now. It is stunning how much better it tastes (to me) than store-bought. We always pick just minutes before we eat it. I have "fancier" stuff in the works for the summer in the greenhouse but those plants are still small!

There's lots of green out on the trails too. It may not be obvious to those of you from warmer climes how much greener the grass is now but it is!

And, the aspens. Oh how I love them!

I think that Shyla loves springtime too. I sure do love our time on the trails together.
There's so much in our natural world to be thankful for!

  1. I also love your bluebirds and aspens! There is certainly much for us to be thankful for in nature, if only we take the time to stop and appreciate it. Enjoy your springtime and the green grass :)

  2. its is beautiful... and the pups like it as much as we do :O)

  3. Hari OM
I love my Hutch, but the one drawback is that I have no yard, not even a balcony, where I could grow my own... I have a twinge of envy! YAM xx

  4. What Wonderful Post - Your Photos Created A Peaceful Vibe For Sure - Extra Treats For The Tribe

  5. What great pictures. It's always a challenge to get a picture of a warbler since they seem to be in constant motion. Great capture of the "butter butt". I love spring too with all the plants greening up and springing from the ground.

  6. We are thankful for your photos, as always! Yay spring!

And homegrown lettuce - yum! Thanks for introducing us to your greenhouse in action.

  7. that lettuce is indeed something to be thankful for. it is really beautiful lettuce.. great idea.. we don't even need a green house but i have a black thumb and my green thumb guy lost the desire... that warbler is beautiful and i think it is his head that is yellow not his rump. ha ha

  8. The warbler almost looks a cartoon bird, very cute! I'm growing lettuce this year, for the first time in a long time. It will be awhile before it's big enough to eat, but I'm looking forward to it.

    Enjoy your day!

  9. Such beautiful birds and beautiful views...and of course a totally gorgeous Shyla too!

  10. The Warbler and Bluebird are both such beautiful birds and of course, you're beautiful as well, Shyla! Love your greenhouse!

  11. You live in such a beautiful place. Wow.

Have a fabulous Thankful Thursday. Scritches to the pups. ♥

  12. We have the Yellow rump Warbler too. I just love is little happy yellow rump too.
Your lettuce looks so pretty. I like to but butter lettuce for salads is that what you are growing?
    So tender.

  15. That warbler is so handsome, but the bluebirds will always be our favorite. Fresh veggies are a big hit here. Maybe we need a nice greenhouse too. The rabbits eat everything we plant in the yard:( That lettuce looks so good.

  16. I think Shyla by now know she looks very good in a field of yellow spring flowers. Love your nature pictures and that yellow rump bird looks so very cool. Like he knows he's just gorgeous.

  17. There is nothing like growing your own vegetables - good for you! I love those little warblers, and what an awesome photo you got of that one!

    Lookin' FABulous Shyla!

  19. I was hoping for a peek at your greenhouse! Wow, you've got a great crop of greenery going there :)

  20. Even the winged-wildlife up your way is spectacular! Fabulous photos. So jealous of your greenhouse. You're right, freshly cut lettuce DOES taste better. ;)
