My favorite things about camping

One of my favorite things about all of our camping trips is seeing every minute of every day outdoors. Seeing the rose colored sunset light against the red rock makes the colors glow...

Seeing the sun set on a distant horizon...

Then watching dusk fall and the first stars start to sparkle...

And then, in the dead of night, waking up and seeing the stars overhead. In case anyone else loves the Milky Way like I do, it is alive and well!
When living indoors, it feels too cold and like too much trouble to go outside at 3AM to look for the Milky Way. And, in many places, there's too much light pollution to see it. When camping in the desert, I soak it up.

Happy Springtime Saturday!

  2. wow on the milky way pic, I have never seen it look like that since we live in light pollution all the time.

  3. We never ever see that many stars. The only stars we see are Shyla and R!

  4. We used to camp many years ago and I also loved being so close to the outdoors 24/7. We never camped in the desert though - only woods - so all that wide open space looks even better!

  5. I love camping but it is getting harder to do; maybe this summer I'll find a way to get another trip in.

  6. So jealous...living in the city there's so much light pollution we don't see the sky at night like it should be seen.

  8. I've been sleeping on the porch some nights - or at least part of some nights - and it's so lovely to open my eyes at 2 or 3 AM to a moon shining through the tree branches. Soon there will be much less sky visible, as the trees are leafing out, so I've been enjoying it while I can. And twice lately I've had to go out to the paddocks late at night and luckily it was a clear starry night both times! I can't look up very well, but if I REALLY want to stargaze - and if the biting bugs aren't too awful - I can drag one of the chaises out to the paddock and stay awhile. The goats don't seem to mind :)

  13. OMD, that is soooooo purty!!!! Yeah, there is WAY too much light pollution to see it here in the valley, butts sometimes if you go up into the foothills, where there are no streetlights, it is spectacular!!! (not THIS good mind you! ☺)

  14. Gorgeous photos. We have a lot of light pollution, so we don't get to see the MW, or all those stars.
