We had a stretch of days with almost no morning sunshine. I'd awaken excited to get out into the sun, and it would be a dull drab day. Flat and gray days make me feel the same way.
But then, the sun shined again on a recent morning. We sprinted up to a high plateau to stand in the sun's rays. I turned my face toward the sun to feel it's subtle warmth. I love the sun!!! It makes me smile.
It was cold so we didn't stay still for long. I called Shyla who accelerated toward me on a recall.
She is so beautiful to me, especially when she's glowing in the sunrise light and has her golden eyes pinned to mine as she sprints.
We couldn't play in the sun for too long because I had a spine appointment in town. It's a place where Shyla is welcome to accompany me. She and I received the greatest compliment in the waiting room. Shyla was sitting facing me, totally focused on me. Another patient said "Your dog is so attentive to you. Is she a service dog?".
I do realize that a dog in a medical waiting room is more likely to be a service dog than a dog on a trail... but I still was thrilled that her behavior lived up to a standard that would make someone ask that question!
After this photo, we were off to the races, doing our ride and heading to town. It's amazing how a sunny morning can make me happier!
such mornings remind me always of the old cat stevens song... morning has broken :O)
ReplyDeleteI have to have sunshine too, gray days make me gray.

Wonderful what a little sunshine can do to brighten up a day. What a compliment you had for you and Shyla! She is such an amazing girl. You are so lucky to have found each other. :)
ReplyDeleteThe sun always makes the day so much better! You are a lucky girl to be able to go with your mom to her doctor's appointment, Shyla!
ReplyDeleteHooray for sunshine and beautiful SHyla!
ReplyDeleteif someone transported me to a place with out sunshine every day i would wither to nothing. i love sunshine and all that is shines on is more beautiful, just like Shyla
ReplyDeleteSunshine, a massive compliment, a great combination for you both.Shyla shines.
ReplyDeleteActually Shyla is a service dog. She gives you love and humour and happiness! That's a great service.
ReplyDeleteThe sun really can work miracles with one's mood. And Shyla is beautiful all the time, with or without the golden glow. We bet she made you so very proud at your appointment. She does so much for you that we have to think that she really IS a service dog:)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you about the sunlight, both in how it makes you feel, and how it makes your girl glow in its brightness.
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well in your corner of the world and you're having a good day!
Oh, those golden eyes in sunlight! So much trust, so much beauty behind them!

Shyla you are absolutely radiant...of course you are washed in the glorious sun but I suspect the glimmer in your eye is for your Mom...as you race to her.
ReplyDeleteWhat a compliment to be asked if you are a service dog. Yay You

PS If mom took me to any waiting room they would quickly ask her to leave...I sing the song of my people in very high soprano.
What a wonderful compliment for you two! Glad you got some sun to enjoy

Oh, Ma loves the sun too! If she doesn't see the sun for more than a couple of days, she gets antsy. good thing we lives in CA!!! BOL! Shyla, you are one beautiful gurl! Yeah, I'm with Madi, if I was in that waiting room, there would be WAY too much drools, and I thinks they would ask us to leave! BOL!!! You are one lucky gurl!

It's still super cold here in the mornings, but they have been so beautiful and full of sunshine. The sun makes the winter so pretty and is so motivational. We don't do well in an area where sun is rare. Thankfully here in MN we have a lot of sunny days.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining the Thankful Thursday Blog Hop, we appreciate it!
