At this time of year when darkness dominates, I find myself especially drawn to sunrise.
When I see a glimmer of red, purple, and orange from the eastern horizon, I get ready to sprint outside and take photos.
Look at the sky from a week or so ago! And the reflection from the frozen pond makes the view especially magical.
After the sun comes over the horizon, the mountains to our west glow purple.
And Shyla glows red when she's bathed in the rays of the rising sun.
If you're in the mood for a mellow sunrise view, check out the very short video.
Many thanks to the LLB Gang for hosting the Friday Nature blog hop.

ReplyDeleteWow! The colors are just beyond stunning!
ReplyDeletethere is nothing more beautiful than sun rise and sunset.. love the red and gold Shyla
ReplyDeleteThat is magical and that snow nose is such a hoot!

Those colours are so intense and all is beautiful, the snowy nose a laugh.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors. We love the long dark days of the winter. It forces us to all relax. When it is light out so early and late, Mom is always busy, but now she stops doing things early because the darkness makes it feel like it is time to quit.
ReplyDeleteSunrise on Shyla is the best! It always seems odd to me that this is the first official day of winter, yet it means we're headed in the right direction for longer days and more daylight. Fall is always a hard time for me with migraines, and I think it's the lack of light that does it (even though that seems odd since migraine can make you light sensitive; I rarely have that problem. I crave light!)

ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Happy Summer Solstice from Downunder. BOL!
ReplyDeleteHappy Solstice! What a beautiful sunrise and Shula always looks wonderful in the morning light!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous. I know the light will increase in milliseconds for a while (if it ever stops raining) but just knowing it's in the right direction makes me feel better.
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful!!! Magical skies for a magical time of the year.
ReplyDeleteYou take the greatest shots. Wow.
ReplyDeleteI too am happy that the days will start to get longer and longer.
Have a fabulous day and weekend. Scritches to the pups. ♥

Oh Shyla,, you are soooo beautiful! You just glow!
ReplyDeleteLoved all the beauty in the sunrise KB! I actually live to see the sunrises that you share. Where we live,,, a sunrise cannot be seen, as so many trees and mountainy areas... But I always think I know when there is a beautiful sunrise. I could go searching for one, and find it,,, but to tell the truth, in the mornings after Tweedles and I get up,,, well thats the time I hold her , and she falls back to sleep.. for a little while... Tweedles is really my sunrise.
love tweedles and georgie
And I loved the music,,, you always share the best.... thank you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous sunrise, the best part of the day in my books.
