Thank you so much for all of the warm and supportive comments yesterday. R seems to feel much better after restarting his antibiotics. It is amazing how fast antibiotics turn around a dog's UTI. R will have tests this week so we can find out what caused a second infection so soon.
And, he's back to playing with his little brother. It seems as if our dogs have been playing for many hours every day. To check whether R wants to continue to play, I sometimes coral Hachi and take him away from R. R almost always follows us, trying to engage Hachi to play some more. That's my answer - R actively wants to play. He's not unwillingly badgered into it by Hachi.
I absolutely adore seeing R's play face and also seeing how Hachi knows that it's not serious.
Getting ready for his final move (and keeping his one eye on Hachi)...
And he roared, blowing Hachi's ears back!
I am so very glad that R is feeling better. Now, I'm wishing for the news that nothing serious is going on inside him.
it's great to start into a new week with such good news...they look interesting together... color blocking but much better than any fashion designer could create ;O)
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful and we hope whatever has been bugging R goes away and stays away. They sure are having fun together!
ReplyDeleteI am laughing out loud, showed these to hubby. the perspective of your photos makes R look like a really giant sized hound of the Baskerville. what joy you must feel watching this in person. I miss our Baby and Jake doing this.

ReplyDeleteBOL... love that last shot. POTP continues this side... YAM xx
Yay! Perhaps the infection just wasn't quite licked by the first round of antibiotics...
ReplyDeleteYou boys are having a blast together! Paws and fingers remain crossed that you are back to 100% soon, R!
ReplyDeleteWe're so glad to hear that Uncle R is feeling better! And oh my, he looks so fearsome playing with Hatchi! Love it!
ReplyDeleteR my handsome black prince...I just love love love your facial expressions and the mischief Hachi stirs up in your mind's eye. Thank goodness you feel better and have a wee brudder to keep you all entertained.

We had no idea this was happening again.
ReplyDeleteI've been working the last 3 days so not on the computer.
First thank you for your advice about Mitzie.
Now keeping our paws crossed for R too.

What great news. It's so hard when they don't feel well. I'm glad the antibotics are working. Fingers crossed that it's nothing serious.
ReplyDeleteAw on this play. You sure know how to get the actions shots.
Thank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a woof woof Awww Monday and week. My best to your mom. ♥
Oh, they do look like they are having fun, good to know those intense faces are play faces. Good captures.
ReplyDeleteEmma had a UTI that came back really quickly. Our vet felt it was a more tough strain of infection that wasn't 100% cured the first time. She got new stronger antibiotics and was fine after that. Hopefully it is something like that with R. Bailie and I played for hours, and Bailie was often the instigator. As long as they are having fun, why not?
ReplyDeleteMaybe R is like a person, and if the first antibiotics are not given long enough or an adequate dose, that same infection abates for a few days then is really still there and flares up again. This happened to me 3 times, in the end they hit it hard with an IV , and since then no more. Maybe this time it will go for good, he is so enjoying that play time.
ReplyDeleteGood news, glad R is getting better. Lovely dogplay photos!
ReplyDeleteThis series of pictures made me smile. It really does look like R is roaring so loud it's blowing Hachi's ears back. All paws are crossed for R that nothing serious is going on inside.
ReplyDeleteSo glad R is feeling better...and we love seeing him playing with Hachi!!
ReplyDeletePOTP for good test results!
We have our paws crossed there is good news in the near future.
ReplyDeleteLove R's monster dog play face!
ReplyDeleteThe two boys have so much fun together. We hope the antibiotics clear things up for good. Maybe just a nasty strain of germs:(
ReplyDeleteHa ha, love the roar!! R is obviously feeling very well, and that is such a good sign. That Hachi is going to keep him young for a long time to come. ♥

We're praying it's all going to resolve easily! It's a great sign that R wants to play with Hachi!

Crossing fingers here for R's health. I love to see the pictures of him playing - he looks so fierce! But I know it's all just a game.
ReplyDeleteI once had a male cat who had problems with crystals blocking his urethra; it's a fairly common problem for them. A change of diet fixed it. I hope whatever's going on with R is as easily fixed.
I love those kinds of play pictures! My sister's senior dog ended up having to be on low dose antibiotics for his last couple years because he kept getting UTIs--it had something to do with his urine being too diluted from drinking so much water to kill off the bacteria or something like that, and every time they tried to take him off the antibiotics it would come back immediately and he'd start having accidents in the house, so they ended up putting him on a low dose, which managed it, and doing regular tests to make sure his organs were functioning normally on that dosage. Hopefully R gets some results that help you figure out how to keep him from having this continuing problem!
ReplyDeleteOh My! R can look so ferocious!! Glad he is feeling so much better and hope stays well this time
