Pack Play!

We've been inviting lots of friends over to meet Hachi. He is in the midst of the most important "socialization period", and he is mildly suspicious of people who he doesn't know. So, he is meeting lots of nice people who come visit him.

One of those nice people brought him a gift - a squeaky walrus that is perfect for playing tug. That toy brought on some wonderful play among our trio of dogs. It started with Shyla and Hachi, who have recently started playing tug together a couple of times each day. Shyla has figured out that she needs to be gentle to keep Hachi playing with her.

Very soon thereafter, R joined in the game! I was SO happy to see that.

Both big dogs were tugging much more softly than they would have with just each other. Our wide-eyed puppy was so happy!

100 pounds of grown-up dog versus 13 pounds of puppy!

Even when Hachi let go of the toy, they didn't run away with it. They waited for him to grab it again so that the game could continue.

I think that we have the start of a wonderful pack relationship!!!

Many thanks to all of our friends who have been dropping by to help Hachi grow up into a friendly good citizen.

  1. that is too cute for words!!!! and the twins will adopt the idea to invite a lot of people ... they smell treats and toys in the air ;O))))

  2. It is so wonderful to see them all playing like that, it's a real smile maker day!

  3. I am searching for people to visit us, our other dogs were not socialized, we are anit social people, never have anyone over. so far I have had 2 people come, but since WE are anti social, not many to choose from. I love seeing the pack play..

  7. The Pup Held Down The Dog Bed And Made Time For Tug-a-War. Your House Is So Full Of Life. Well Done

  8. We agree with most of the other comments that those pictures are too cute for words. Hachi looks like he is getting a lot of exercise holding on to those two big dogs with his toy.

  9. Three-way tug! That looks like great fun for everyone!

  10. How do Shyla and R suddenly know that their play must be so much more gentle with Hachi? This is a wonderful time to see them together/

    1. Their parental instincts kick in. Right now they are like Hachi adopted parents until he hit puberty.

  11. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh LabraDuo I'm grinning and clapping at the love and patience you show to the lightweight.
If I lived close to you I'd be on your door step every morning waiting to play with all 3 of you. case you haven't figured it out you my wee one have landed in the lap of love and fun
    Hugs Cecilia
